Betting Tips, Picks & Predictions For Bellator 120

[adrotate group=”25″]Bellator 120 is the biggest event in Bellator’s history and we’ve got betting tips and predictions for the 3 main fights on the card.

A number of people have contacted me this week asking for betting advice for Bellator 120, as they think there is value on betting on the underdogs in the 3 main fights.

It’s important to remember that a fighter is not an automatically good value bet if the odds are good value. A perfect example of this is people talking themselves into betting on Tito Ortiz to beat Alexander Shlemenko.

At first glance Tito might appear to be a great value bet at odds of 4.77 | +347, but you have to look at the bigger picture. Tito is now 39 years old, he’s only won 1 fight in the last 8 years and he’s fighting a young Russian in his prime who is on a 13 fight winning streak. In situations like this, it’s important not to let your heart rule your head. Tito is an MMA legend, but he’s not the fighter that he used to be…

Now lets take a look at each of our betting tips and picks for Bellator 120…

MUHAMMED “KING MO” LAWAL vs QUINTON “RAMPAGE” JACKSON

Bellator have done a great job of hyping this fight, but I honestly don’t see it being close.

King Mo hasn’t looked the same since a serious Staph Infection threatened his life back in 2012, whereas Rampage has looked better everytime he has stepped into the Bellator cage.

It’s really tough to see a way that King Mo can win this fight. He certainly isn’t going to outstrike Rampage and Rampage has proven throughout his career that he has excellent take down defence. Rampage’s MMA wrestling is also pretty good and I seriously doubt that King Mo will be able to get this fight to the ground or control Rampage in the clinch.

King Mo recently spoke on the MMA Hour about his paranoia and anxiousness over getting cut. He is constantly in fear of developing another Staph Infection and this insecurity has made it difficult to compete to his full potential. Fighting tentatively against a guy like Rampage is going to result in you getting knocked out or losing a decision.

I bet Rampage to win as soon as the odds for this fight became available. I truly believe that he will walk right through King Mo and this should be the easiest money of the night.

If you’re planning on placing a bet on King Mo, just ask yourself one question. “When was the last time King Mo put in an impressive performance?” The only answer to that question is “A long time ago”. That should tell you all you need to know about King Mo’s chances of winning this fight.

OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Rampage Jackson to win at odds of 1.47 | -212 | 47/100

MICHAEL CHANDLER vs WILL BROOKS

Will Brooks steps up on just 1 weeks notice to fight Michael Chandler for the interim Bellator Lightweight title. He replaces the injured Eddie Alvarez and he’s going to need a miracle to beat Michael Chandler on Saturday night.

I don’t believe that Will Brooks will be able to cope with the pace that Michael Chandler will set throughout this fight and the odds on Chandler to win inside the distance of 1.51 | -196 | 51/100 are excellent value considering this is the first time that Will Brooks has competed in a 5 round fight.

Michael Chandler can win this fight in a variety of ways. He can knock out Will Brooks, or he can take this fight to the ground and submit him. Either way, this is going to be a really tough night for Brooks and eventually he is going to wilt under the pressure and relentless pace that Chandler sets.

OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Michael Chandler to win inside the distance at odds of 1.51 | -196 | 51/100

2 FIGHT PARLAY ACCUMULATOR – CHANDLER AND SHLEMENKO

I was really disappointed when I first saw the odds for the Alexander Shlemenko vs Tito Ortiz fight. I was hoping that there would be enough value in the odds to bet Shlemenko to win outright, but unfortunately the oddsmakers have been a little tight on this occasion.

Incase you haven’t already guessed, Alexander Shlemenko is the first part of my 2 fight parlay accumulator. The Russian should easily beat Tito Ortiz, despite moving upto Light Heavyweight from Middleweight for the first time.

Shlemenko is currently riding a 13 fight win streak and is competing in his prime at just 29 years old. Tito on the other hand has only won 1 fight in the last 8 years and is now 39 years old.

Tito has been telling anyone who would listen that he is all healed up and that he can’t wait to show everyone what he’s capable of, but the fact is that Tito hasn’t looked good for a very long time.

The Russian is too fast and too powerful for Tito and it’s difficult to see a scenario where the Huntington beach badboy could cause an upset on Saturday night.

The second part of my parlay is Michael Chandler to beat Will Brooks. I honestly believe that Michael Chandler is in the top 5 Lightweights in the world and I just don’t see how Chandler can lose this fight. Will Brooks isn’t well known for his finishing power and I seriously doubt that he can outwork Chandler over 5 rounds.

Michael Chandler should easily win this fight, setting things up for the fight that we all want to see, Alvarez vs Chandler 3. It’s going to happen, I can’t wait for it to happen and I seriously doubt that there’s anything that Will Brooks can do to stop it!

OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Alexander Shlemenko & Michael Chandler to win at odds of 1.44 | -227 | 11/25
