RENAN BARAO vs TJ DILLASHAW

TJ Dillashaw beating Renan Barao in their first fight at UFC 173 was more than just a fluke. Dillashaw is legit and I predict that he is going to beat Renan Barao again in their rematch at UFC 177.

I’m a big fan of Renan Barao, but you cannot deny that TJ Dillashaw dominated every single aspect of their first fight. If you haven’t seen their first fight in a while, you should definitely check it out. Dillashaw’s dominance will probably surprise you, because he controlled every single aspect of their first fight, right from the first second.

Dillashaw was so dominant that it’s really difficult to see a way that Barao could win this rematch. It’s only been 3 months since the last time they fought and Barao hasn’t had enough time to make significant changes that could alter the outcome of their second fight.

Several things were established the first time that Dillashaw and Barao fought and I can hardly believe that I am about to type the next few sentences…

1. TJ Dillashaw is faster than Renan Barao.
2. TJ Dillashaw has better footwork and Boxing.
3. TJ Dillashaw throws a higher volume of strikes.
4. TJ Dillashaw is very hard to hit.
5. Renan Barao cannot take TJ Dillashaw down.

Barao won’t be able to take Dillashaw down and he won’t be able to outstrike him and for that reason I feel that the only way Barao can win is by knock out.

I feel that a Barao knockout is very unlikely, because Dillashaw is light on his feet and he’s extremely hard to hit. He also displayed excellent head movement in their first fight and he’s proven to be extremely durable throughout his career.

TJ Dillashaw is a slight favourite against Renan Barao and he has all the tools necessary to become a dominant Champion in the UFC’s Bantamweight division. I expect the outcome of this fight to be exactly the same as the first…

JUSTIN EDWARDS vs YANCY MEDEIROS

Yancy Medeiros was 9-0 when he joined the UFC last year, but his career has been derailed by some bad luck in recent fights. I fully expect him to get his career back on track with a win against Justin Edwards because this is a fight that he should be able to win comfortably.

The biggest factor in this fight will be Medeiros’ 7 inch reach advantage. Medeiros is already a good striker with excellent take down defence and this reach advantage is going to make it even easier for him to land strikes and avoid those take downs.

Justin Edwards has decent wrestling, but I’m not too worried about him taking Medeiros down because Medeiros has excellent take down defence and scrambles.

This should be a relatively easy fight for Yancy Medeiros because Justin Edwards has very poor striking. Edwards is very slow for a Lightweight and he also telegraphs his strikes by rushing into his opponent in a straight line without working feints and angles. Medeiros should have no problem avoiding Edwards’ strikes, by using his reach advantage to stay out of range and circling away from danger.

The odds of 1.40 | -250 | 2/5 on Medeiros to win are pretty decent when you consider all the advantages that he has over Edwards. Yancy Medeiros to beat Justin Edwards is easily the safest bet of UFC 177.

DANNY CASTILLO vs TONY FERGUSON

This is an extremely bad match up for Danny Castillo, because Castillo’s main strength is his wrestling and Tony Ferguson has excellent take down defence. Ferguson’s take down defence is so good, that he has successfully defended 100% of all take down attempts in his 6 UFC fights. This statistic is even more impressive when you consider the fact that Ferguson has faced strong wrestlers such as Michael Johnson and Ramsey Nijem.

Danny Castillo and Tony Ferguson are both excellent wrestlers, but they both use their wrestling in different ways. Castillo uses his wrestling offensively to take his opponents down, whereas Ferguson uses his wrestling to set up his strikes.

Danny Castillo is at a huge disadvantage when it comes to striking and Ferguson should have no problem picking him apart. Castillo’s only chance of winning this fight will be to knock Ferguson out, but that’s extremely unlikely because Ferguson fights at range, tucks his chin and also has pretty good head movement.

The physical stats also favour Tony Ferguson, because he is 5 years younger than Danny Castillo and he also has a 5 inch reach advantage. Having any type of reach advantage over wrestlers is huge, because you have more range to see them shooting for takedowns.

This should be an easy fight for Tony Ferguson, you’d be crazy not to place a bet on him to win!

OUR BETTING TIP: 10.00 Units on Tony Ferguson to win at odds of 1.46 | -217 | 23/50
