UFC Fight Night 48 is seriously lacking in star power and most of the fighters competing on this card are making their UFC debuts. This has made the research for my betting tips a gruelling process, because many of the fighters competing on this event are low level athletes and it’s also been a struggle to find footage for many of them.
Despite these challenges, I’ve managed to come up with 4 pretty solid betting tips for UFC Fight Night 48 and I feel pretty confident that we’re going to earn a profit from these bets.

CUNG LE vs MICHAEL BISPING
Cung Le hasn’t fought for almost 2 years and therefore I haven’t seen him fight for a very long time.
Before I started to do my betting research for this event, my perception of Cung Le was that he was a fast and explosive striker. This perception proved to be completely wrong, because I have since reviewed Cung Le’s recent fights and found that he is a slow and sloppy fighter.
When the betting lines were first released for this fight and I saw that Cung Le was such a big underdog, I actually fancied a bet on him, but after reviewing footage of his last few fights, I now heavily favour Michael Bisping to win. It’s amazing how a 60 second highlight reel can cloud your judgement and make a guy like Cung Le look like an incredible fighter.
Cung Le is now 42 years old and he’s starting to look like it in the cage. He’s slow, he’s sloppy and his strikes are sluggish. He’s had a few spectacular highlight reel knockouts throughout his career, but when the chips are down, he’s just not a very technical fighter.
Michael Bisping has got excellent footwork, technical striking and cardio for days. He should be able to win this fight comfortably by outstriking Cung Le for 5 rounds.
I’m not too worried about Bisping being knocked out, because he’s actually got a very good chin. Some people believe he has a weak chin, but that’s partly because he features on the wrong end of highlight reel knockouts for Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson. There’s certainly no shame in being knocked out by either of those guys and Bisping has never suffered a knockout loss to anyone else.
I know the odds on Bisping are a little low, but I don’t give Cung Le much of a chance in this fight. You should bet Michael Bisping to win…

DONG HYUN KIM vs TYRON WOODLEY
If you read my betting tips regularly, you will know that I’m not the biggest fan of Tyron Woodley. A quick search of this website will reveal a few nasty things that I’ve said about him in the past, but despite my disdain for Woodley’s skill set, I’m not stupid enough to overlook the fact that Dong Hyun Kim is a great match up for him.
It is possible that Dong Hyun Kim could cause Woodley problems, because Woodley does struggle against guys who push the pace. But Woodley was dominated by Rory MacDonald in his last fight and that was largely down to him not being able to deal with MacDonald’s constant pressure. Woodley seems like a smart guy and he has a great team behind him and I believe that he will have learnt a lot from that fight and he will have made adjustments to deal with Kim’s constant pressure. I also believe that Kim’s constant pressure will leave him open to getting taken down and hit with some big power punches.
Tyron Woodley’s bad cardio is normally a factor to consider when he fights, but Dong Hyun Kim’s cardio is probably worse. Kim is normally done midway through the second round of a fight and I actually favour Woodley to come on stronger in the second and third rounds, when Kim starts to fade.
I believe that Dong Hyun Kim is going to fight exactly how he did against Erick Silva and John Hathaway and that will be good news for Tyron Woodley, who should be able to time his takedowns and put Kim on his back for significant periods of this fight. I can’t believe I’m betting on Tyron Woodley to win, but he should have no problem beating the Korean.
OUR BETTING TIP: 10.00 Units on Tyron Woodley to win at odds of 1.67 | -149 | 67/100

Colby Covington vs Wang Anying
Colby Covington fights at American Top Team and he’s one of the new breed of fighters who is great at everything. He currently holds an undefeated professional MMA record of 5-0 and he’s looked the real deal since his first pro fight back in 2012.
There’s a lot of hype behind Covington right now and I’m sure he’s going to live up to that hype by destroying Wang Anying at UFC Fight Night 48.
Having reviewed footage of both guys, I can safely say that Anying poses almost no threat to Covington. Aside from any freak accidents or lucky knockouts, Covington should win this fight comfortably and violently…

ELIZABETH PHILLIPS vs MILANA DUDIEVA
Nick Kalikas [the guy who sets the betting lines for MMA] must have been daydreaming when he set the odds for this fight, because he’s made Milana Dudieva the favourite and she is a terrible fighter. I actually have no idea why she is fighting in the UFC, because there are tougher girls that live on my street.
Dudieva has no striking, no cardio and no hope of becoming a successful MMA fighter. It’s unusual to see a female Bantamweight with such bad cardio, because they normally have cardio for days. The only explanation I can think of, is that she must eat McDonalds 3 times and day.
Elizabeth Phillips didn’t look great in her UFC debut against Valerie Letourneau, but she did take that fight on short notice and Letourneau is an experienced veteran with high level striking. She lost that fight because she gassed out, but I believe that it was most probably because of an adrenalin dump in her UFC debut. She trains at the Sikjitsu fight team with Julianna Pena, Michael Chiesa and Sam Sicilia and all those guys have pretty good cardio. It would be out of character for Phillips to have a bad gas tank when she trains with that team, so I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.
Dudieva’s biggest strength is her submissions, but I’m not too worried about Phillips getting submitted because she is a high level wrestler who trains at a gym with a bunch of guys who have really good Jiu Jitsu.
Liz Phillips should be able to outwork, outgrapple and grind out an easy win against Milana Dudieva. I can’t believe Phillips is the underdog in this fight, but I’m not complaining. I’ll take it!
