Alex Cacares and Sergio Pettis both like to stand and bang and their exciting striking styles should make for an entertaining fight. They both have weaknesses in their ground game, but this isn’t going to matter as it’s highly unlikely that either fighter will want to take this fight to the ground.
Sergio Pettis is currently undefeated, holding a 10 fight winning streak, although he has only fought once in the UFC. Caceres has won his last 4 fights although one of those fights was turned into a no contest, when Caceres tested positive for Marijuana.
With both fighters being so well matched, this is a fight that is going to be decided by fine margins. The two factors that set these fighters apart are technique and discipline. Pettis’ overall striking game is much more technical and this means that he can throw more strikes, whilst using up less energy. Pettis also has better discipline and doesn’t get sucked into the crazy wars that Caceres often finds himself in.
Pettis will use his tighter striking technique to pick apart Cacares and win this fight via a decision. Caceres doesn’t have the striking skills to cause Pettis problems, nor does he have the grappling skills necessary to take Pettis down and hold him there.
With [adrotate group=”17″] offering odds of around 1.5 [-200 or 1/2] on a Pettis win, we’d be crazy not to back the young “phenom”.
