I’ve now made a profit on 6 out of the last 8 UFC events and I plan on making even more money from my betting picks for UFC Fight Night 60.
I’m going to be totally honest with you by saying that UFC Fight Night 60 is not a good event for betting. In fact, it’s probably the worst since UFC 180 back in November. That said, I do have a clear strategy for making money on this event and I feel very confident that we’re going to bank a profit.
You need to be careful when it comes to events like this, because you can often find yourself betting for the sake of it or searching for value when it’s not there. Many of the fighters competing at UFC Fight Night 60 are either unproven or inconsistent and I don’t like betting on those kinds of fighters. As a result, I’ll be playing this event real safe to ensure that we bank a profit.

CHAS SKELLY vs JIM ALERS
Jim Alers is a talented young fighter and former Cage Warriors Champion who has put together a 9 fight winning streak by using good old fashioned American Wrestling to beat less skilled European Wrestlers over in Europe. Unfortunately, that style of fighting won’t work against a guy like Chas Skelly and I feel that this is the end of the road for Alers and his impressive win streak.
Jim Alers is a reasonably well rounded fighter, but his one weakness is his takedown defence and Chas Skelly is a relentless, grinding grappler with decent takedowns and excellent ground control. If Skelly gets you to the ground, he transitions to a dominant position very fast and it’s extremely hard to get away from him.
Jim Alers does a lot of stuff really well, but I doubt he’s going to get the opportunity to showcase any of it, because he’ll more than likely spend the majority of this fight being controlled on the ground by Skelly.
Alers is the better striker, but he doesn’t have the speed or explosiveness to cause Skelly problems standing up. Skelly should be able to stay on the outside and avoid the majority of Alers strikes, before closing the distance and getting this fight to the ground, or at the very least working Alers up against the cage.
Chas Skelly isn’t that well rounded and he has a ton of holes in his game, but he’s a strong grappler, with excellent ground control and you’re in big trouble if he gets you to the ground. Based on what we know from watching Jim Alers’ past fights, Skelly should easily be able to take Alers down, which makes Skelly a pretty good bet.
If Alers can keep this fight standing, he will cause Skelly problems and he hasn’t fought since April, so it’s possible he could have improved his takedown defence since then. For that reason, I recommend that you play this fight small and only bet 2 units on Skelly to win…
