A fighter’s MMA record is the most valuable source of information that you can use to determine the outcome of a fight. When we formulate our betting tips most of our time is spent analysing the fighters MMA records to establish who is more likely to walk away with the win. Here are all the things you need to consider when using MMA records to help you predict the outcome of a fight…

WHO HAVE THEY FOUGHT?

Experience is a massive factor in any fight. Gauging the level of opposition a fighter has faced is a good way to determine their chances of winning. When fighters face a big step up in competition they often need some time to adjust and for this reason it can be risky backing inexperienced fighters, irrespective of how they have performed in previous fights. Having said that, good value bets can be found in backing up and coming fighters looking to make a name for themselves against seasoned veterans who may have put their best days behind them. Online betting websites will almost always make the big name fighter the favourite, so look for opportunities to back fighters who possess all the tools necessary to cause an upset, you’ll often find the odds are great and the hungry fighters will always have the desire to win. You also need to consider if fighters have ever fought against certain styles and how they have performed against those styles in previous fights. You might find a guy with devastating knockout power who has never fought a wrestler before. On paper the striker may look impressive, but it’s difficult to establish how effective he will be against a wrestler who may find it easy to take him down and hold him there. It’s a well known saying in the UFC that styles make match ups and it’s inevitable that certain types of fighters will struggle against certain types of fighting styles. Spend some time looking back through a fighters losses to see what types of fighters he has lost against. Has he lost to a lot of Ju Jitsu fighters, wrestlers or strikers? You’d be amazed at how much information you can find by viewing a fighters record on Wikipedia.

LOOK FOR TRENDS

The famous saying “the numbers don’t lie” definitely applies to Mixed Martial Arts.
