CATHAL PENDRED vs GASAN UMALATOV

I like Cathal Pendred, but I haven’t bought a ticket on his hype train. I just don’t think that anyone would care about him if he wasn’t Irish and he didn’t train with Conor McGregor.

The truth is that Cathal Pendred looked really bad on the Ultimate Fighter. He also has terrible cardio, awkard striking and basic grappling. Mike King was destroying him in his last fight, until King wilted under the pressure of the Irish crowd.

Gasan Umalatov has looked good since he signed with the UFC and I have no idea why he is an underdog in this fight.

This fight is tough for me to break down, because Umalatov is simply better than Cathal Pendred everywhere. I don’t see many ways that the Irishman can win this fight and I can only assume he is a favourite because of his miraculous comeback in Dublin.

The Irish crowd won’t be around to drive Pendred onto victory in Sweden and I fully expect Umalatov to win this fight by beating Pendred in both striking and grappling exchanges.

OUR BETTING TIP: 10.00 Units on Gasan Umalatov to win at odds of 2.30 | +130 | 13/10

MAIRBEK TAISUMOV vs MARCIN BANDEL

Marcin Bandel is a lethal submission fighter, who has won his last 12 fights by first round submission. This is impressive, but none of the guys he has fought are anywhere near UFC level athletes.

When Bandel is not on the ground, he looks awkward and clueless. His takedowns are poor and his striking is almost non existent. He’s clearly a very talented submission grappler, but he finds getting fights to the ground difficult and one trick ponies don’t tend to do that well in the UFC.

In contrast, Taisumov is an excellent example of a well rounded Mixed Martial Artist, who is good at everything.

Taisumov is also an excellent MMA wrestler and I expect him to use his MMA wrestling to keep this fight standing where he can completely dominate Marcin Bandel.

If this fight goes to the ground, Taisumov could be in trouble, but his strong wrestling should make it easy for him to scramble back to his feet.

Bandel has a lethal submission game, but he hasn’t demonstrated it against UFC level opposition. This is a tough fight for him, because Taisumov has cardio for days and he’s extremely well rounded. I expect Taisumov to win this fight comfortably.

OUR BETTING TIP: 10.00 Units on Mairbek Taisumov to win at odds of 1.53 | -188 | 53/100
