Vitor Belfort has only lost twice in his last 11 fights, which is a pretty impressive record for anyone in the UFC. That record becomes even more impressive when you consider that those two losses came at the hands of two of the best fighters in the world, Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.
Vitor has looked incredible every time he’s fought in the Octagon since his devastating loss at the hands of Anderson Silva. In his last two fights he’s finished tough opponents in Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping and one more win against Dan Henderson is sure to put Vitor back into title contention.
Since Henderson’s win over Shogun Rua, he’s lost two in a row against Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans. There’s no shame in losing against two elite fighters like that, but the problem is that Henderson looked terrible in both fights. A loss against Belfort would put Henderson in the dreaded “three losses in a row” situation and when you’re not putting on entertaining fights, another loss come Saturday night could find Henderson looking for a new job come Sunday morning.
There’s a lot of pressure on Henderson going into this fight as it’s the last fight on his contract. With a hostile Brazilian crowd giving home advantage to Vitor Belfort, this could be another tough night for the American.
Dan Henderson has never been knocked out or finished via TKO. Vitor Belfort defeats everyone via knock out or TKO. That means something has to give on Saturday night and that should give us all the ingredients for a great fight.
Henderson is tough as hell and has given us some great fights over the years, but he’s looked terrible in his last two fights.
On Saturday night Henderson steps into a hostile stadium full of brazilians rooting for their home town hero. With Belfort’s devastating ability to finish opponents it’s tough to see how Dan Hendersons luck is going to change in this fight.
