With both fighters looking less than impressive in recent fights, this could be another situation where the loser of the fight also loses his place in the UFC.
Since Marquardt’s victory over Tyron Woodley he’s looked pretty average, losing his last two fights against Jake Ellenberger and Tarec Saffedeine.
Hector Lombard on the other hand is somewhat of an enigma. Despite losing 2 of his last 3 fights, he’s never even got close to being outperformed or put in any danger.
Prior to his split decision loss to Tim Boetsch, Lombard was riding a 31 fight win streak that spanned across 4 years of Pro MMA bouts. Given that Lombard looked incredible in his last fight against Rousimar Palhares, surely we will see the best that Hector Lombard has to offer again soon.

Hector Lombard really needs to get back to his best and drop the inconsistency if he wants to keep his place in the UFC.
With both fighters at risk of being cut from the UFC with a loss, surely this is a fight where we get to see Hector Lombard back to fighting at his full potential.
Lombard is much better than Marquardt in all areas this fight could take place and this should be a fight that Hector Lombard wins easily.
