There was a time when Tyron Woodley had a lot of hype behind him and people thought he would be the next big thing in the Welterweight division. Unfortunately Woodley has failed to live up to those expectations and has lost 2 of his last 3 fights.
Woodley’s main strategy for winning fights is to use his wrestling skills to take his opponents down and keep them there. That’s obviously going to be pretty difficult to do against Josh Koscheck, who is an elite grappler and looks to do exactly the same thing to his opponents.
In situations where fights are so closely matched in terms of styles, experience will often play a large part in the outcome. Josh Koscheck has fought and beaten some of the best guys in the world. He’s also shown vastly improved striking in recent fights, picking up a knock out win over Matt Hughes.

OUR VERDICT…
For some reason Josh Koscheck is the underdog in this fight. He may have lost his last two fights, but they were against Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler, who are extremely tough opponents! The only time Tyron Woodley has looked dangerous in his recent fights, was his quick knock out victory over Jay Hieron. Apart from that he’s looked extremely average and even struggled to take down Paul Daley in a 15 minute borefest, towards the end of his Strikeforce days!
This is another occasion where we believe the odds makers have got the odds wrong and it’s up to us to take advantage!
Woodley will not be able to take Koscheck down and that will take Woodley out of his comfort zone. Koscheck is more experienced and has better striking than Woodley.
