FRANKIE EDGAR vs URIJAH FABER BETTING TIP
I don’t usually like to risk a large percentage of my bankroll on a single fight, but occasionally a fight will come up where we’d be crazy not to capitalize on the value. Betting on Frankie Edgar to beat Urijah Faber is as close to free money as you’re going to get. He’s simply better than Urijah Faber in every single aspect of MMA. He’s got the chin, durability and submission defence to deal with anything that Faber can throw at him. There are very few fighters in MMA that you can trust with your money, but Frankie Edgar is one of them. Win or lose, he always fights to his full potential. Edgar is an MMA bettors dream, because he’s well rounded, tough and consistent. If this fight stays standing, Urijah Faber is in big trouble. Edgar is simply too fast, too technical and he lands an average of 30% more strikes per minute. Edgar also has better striking defence, better combos and more fluidity to his attack. Frankie has shown over the years that he has an incredible chin and Faber has never been known for his knockout power. Urijah Faber is known as a grappler, but he struggles to get fights to the ground having only successfully completed 34% of all takedown attempts across 23 fights in the WEC and UFC. Frankie Edgar has pretty good takedown defence and Faber is going to have to work extremely hard to get this fight to the ground. If Faber does manage to get this fight to the ground, I don’t believe he’ll have it all his own way, because Edgar has strong wrestling and good control. He also has solid submission defence, proven by the fact that he was able to hang on the ground with Charles Oliveira. You also have to consider the career trajectory that both these guys are on. Faber struggled in his last fight against Francisco Rivera, whilst Frankie Edgar has recently put in some of the best performances of his career. If Frankie beats Faber, he’ll probably face the winner of Aldo vs McGregor for the UFC Featherweight title. Faber on the other hand is stuck in a period of career obscurity and is just looking for “interesting fights”. Age is an important factor to consider in MMA because athletes start to rapidly decline when they hit the age of 32. This occurs because years of competition starts to take it’s toll on their bodies and Men start to produce much lower levels of Testosterone. Frankie is now 33 years old and hasn’t shown any signs of decline yet. Faber on the other hand is now 36 years old and hasn’t looked good in his last few fights. 3 years might not seem like a long time, but it is significant at this stage of an athlete’s career, because a 33 year old fighter will be producing significantly higher levels of testosterone than a 36 year old fighter. It’s impossible to measure how big of an advantage age will be in this fight, but there’s no denying that it does give Frankie an edge. I don’t like to bet on heavy favourites because anything can happen in MMA, but in situations like this I feel like we’re leaving money on the table if we don’t bet big. All these wins on heavy favourites add up over the course of the year and they help us to grow our bankrolls. This bet will give us a 27% return on our money, which isn’t bad when you take into consideration the huge advantages that Frankie has in this fight.
