[mpc_divider align=”left” lines_color=”#679f42″ lines_weight=”5″ padding_css=”padding:0px;” margin_divider=”true” margin_css=”margin-bottom:20px;”]USADA have had a big impact on the sport since their random drug testing came into full force earlier this year. Only 10 of the fighters competing at UFC Fight Night 91 have fought under the new USADA drug testing regulations. These fighters are Alex Nicholson, Scott Holtzman, Christina Stanciu, Sam Alvey, Lauren Murphy, Kyle Noke, Kieta Nakamura, Daniel Omielańczuk, Tim Boetsch, Michael McDonald and John Lineker.
Here are a few fighters who may be impacted by the USADA drug testing programme…

A broken jaw is one of the most devastating injuries that a fighter can go through. Fighters who break their jaw are hardly ever the same again. It almost always effects their confidence, durability and they also tend to become more tentative.[/mpc_testimonial][mpc_testimonial preset=”mpc_preset_18″ background_type=”gradient” background_gradient=”rgba(0,0,0,0)||rgba(0,0,0,0)||0;100||180||linear” author_font_preset=”mpc_preset_15″ author_font_color=”#0a0a0a” author_font_align=”left” author=”Alex Nicholson” url_font_preset=”mpc_preset_15″ url_font_color=”#f7f7f7″ url_font_size=”14″ hover_url_color=”#ffffff” url=”|||” testimonial_font_color=”#000000″ testimonial_font_size=”13″ testimonial_font_align=”left” thumbnail=”29159″ thumbnail_size=”239×328″ thumbnail_border_css=”border-width:0px;border-color:#ffffff;border-style:solid;border-radius:0px;” thumbnail_padding_divider=”true” thumbnail_padding_css=”padding-right:10px;padding-left:0px;” border_css=”border-radius:5px;” padding_divider=”true” padding_css=”padding-top:20px;”]Alex Nicholson first suffered a broken jaw whilst fighting on the regional MMA circuit back in 2015. Shortly after breaking his jaw, the UFC gave him a call and asked him if he wanted to make his debut against Misha Cirkunov back in February of this year. Nicholson accepted the fight before his broken jaw had time to heal properly, which resulted in him breaking it for a third time in his fight against Cirkunov. Nicholson is now stepping back into the Octagon just 5 months after breaking his jaw for a 3rd time, so it’s very unlikely that it has healed properly. There’s a very good chance that Nicholson will get knocked out in this fight.[/mpc_testimonial][mpc_testimonial preset=”mpc_preset_18″ background_type=”gradient” background_gradient=”rgba(0,0,0,0)||rgba(0,0,0,0)||0;100||180||linear” author_font_preset=”mpc_preset_15″ author_font_color=”#0a0a0a” author_font_align=”left” author=”Oleksiy Oliynyk” url_font_preset=”mpc_preset_15″ url_font_color=”#f7f7f7″ url_font_size=”14″ hover_url_color=”#ffffff” url=”|||” testimonial_font_color=”#000000″ testimonial_font_size=”13″ testimonial_font_align=”left” thumbnail=”29161″ thumbnail_size=”239×179″ thumbnail_border_css=”border-width:0px;border-color:#ffffff;border-style:solid;border-radius:0px;” thumbnail_padding_divider=”true” thumbnail_padding_css=”padding-right:10px;padding-left:0px;” border_css=”border-radius:5px;” padding_divider=”true” padding_css=”padding-top:20px;”]Oleksiy Oliynyk has been away from the sport since November 2014 as a result of numerous knee injuries and surgeries. This is a sign of wear and tear. Oliynyk is now 39 years old and has had a total of 60 MMA fights.[/mpc_testimonial][mpc_testimonial preset=”mpc_preset_18″ background_type=”gradient” background_gradient=”rgba(0,0,0,0)||rgba(0,0,0,0)||0;100||180||linear” author_font_preset=”mpc_preset_15″ author_font_color=”#0a0a0a” author_font_align=”left” author=”Michael McDonald” url_font_preset=”mpc_preset_15″ url_font_color=”#f7f7f7″ url_font_size=”14″ hover_url_color=”#ffffff” url=”|||” testimonial_font_color=”#000000″ testimonial_font_size=”13″ testimonial_font_align=”left” thumbnail=”29164″ thumbnail_size=”239×179″ thumbnail_border_css=”border-width:0px;border-color:#ffffff;border-style:solid;border-radius:0px;” thumbnail_padding_divider=”true” thumbnail_padding_css=”padding-right:10px;padding-left:0px;” border_css=”border-radius:5px;” padding_divider=”true” padding_css=”padding-top:20px;”]McDonald has had a long term battle with hand and wrist injuries which kept him out for over 2 years. These kind of injuries have a tendency to resurface.[/mpc_testimonial]Fighters Making Their Debut

Fighters With Home Advantage
[mpc_divider align=”left” lines_color=”#679f42″ lines_weight=”5″ padding_css=”padding:0px;” margin_divider=”true” margin_css=”margin-bottom:20px;”]Devin Clark
As well as making his UFC debut, Devin Clark will also be under pressure to perform in front of his home town fans.
Ben Nguyen
Now fighting out of Brisbane, Australia, Nguyen was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He will have the positive energy from the fans in the arena, who will likely be very hostile towards Smolka.
Short Notice Fighters

The fight was made official on the 28th of June. Vannata will have just over 2 weeks to have prepared for this fight. Vannata had a bout cancelled in March of this year because he failed to make weight, which does not bode well for him. He last fought in April and there is no sign that he was scheduled for another bout, so will likely have questionable cardio going into this fight.[/mpc_testimonial]Size Advantages
[mpc_divider align=”left” lines_color=”#679f42″ lines_weight=”5″ padding_css=”padding:0px;” margin_divider=”true” margin_css=”margin-bottom:20px;”]Alex Nicholson vs Devin Clark
Alex Nicholson is the bigger than Devin Clark. He will have a 4 inch height and a 4 inch reach advantage.
Cortney Casey-Sanchez vs Christina Stanciu
We have seen repeatedly the effect size can have in Women’s MMA. Casey will have a 4 inch height and 3 inch reach over Stanciu in this fight.
Ben Nguyen vs Louis Smolka
Louis Smolka is humongous for a Flyweight at 5 ft 9. He will have a 5 inch height and also a 3 inch reach advantage over Ben Nguyen.
Daniel Omielanczuk vs Oleksiy Oliynyk
There is only a 2 inch height advantage in favour of Oliynyk, but he has a significant 6 inch reach advantage.
Josh Samman vs Tim Boetsch
Josh Samman will have a 3 inch height and 5 inch reach advantage over Tim Boetsch in this fight.
Landon Vannata vs Tony Ferguson
Tony Ferguson will have the physical advantage in this fight. He is 3 inches taller and holds a 4 inch reach advantage over Vannata.
John Lineker vs Michael McDonald
Michael McDonald holds a 6 inch height and 3 inch reach advantage over Lineker.
Age Concerns
[mpc_divider align=”left” lines_color=”#679f42″ lines_weight=”5″ padding_css=”padding:0px;” margin_divider=”true” margin_css=”margin-bottom:20px;”]Kyle Noke
Kyle Noke is now 36 years old, having fought 10 UFC fights since his time on the Ultimate Fighter in 2010.
Oleksiy Olitnyk
Oleksiy Oliynyk is making his return to the Octagon at the age of 39, having been inactive since November 2014. Even in the higher weight classes, time eventually catches up with everyone. Oliynyk may not be the same fighter that we saw 2 years ago.
Tim Boestch
The 35 year old seems to be on a real steep decline, having been stopped in 4 of his last 5 fights. He has continued to fight at a high level, but a TKO loss to Ed Herman in his most recent bout is not a good sign.
