UFC 202 Betting Tips, Picks & Predictions – Diaz vs McGregor

This has been a tough year for betting on MMA because the UFC have been filling up the majority of their events with a very low level of fighter. This has made it more difficult to predict the outcome of many of the fights in 2016 because low level fighters are usually very inconsistent. The new influx of low level fighters into the UFC has been a necessary evil for the promotion as they seek to put on more and more events every year. On one hand it’s great that we get to watch more UFC events than ever before, but I can’t help but feel that the quality of the shows have badly declined in recent months. The last UFC event was a perfect example of this because Maryna Moroz vs Danielle Taylor and Trevor Smith vs Joe Gigliotti were fights that were featured on the main card. Just a few years ago none of these fighters would have been in the UFC because they are simply not good enough. Now, as the UFC struggles to find enough fighters to fill all their shows we are seeing fighters placed into prominent positions on main cards who should be no where near the promotion. How can a guy like Trevor Smith feature on the main card of a UFC event? It goes against everything that Zuffa stood for when they aimed to make the UFC the “Super Bowl of Mixed Martial Arts”. Over-saturation, UFC events packed full of low level fighters, the Reebok deal and the new USADA drug testing programme have all had an impact on our results this year but after months of chaos it is finally starting to feel like we are turning a corner and getting used to the massive changes that all seem to have hit the UFC at the same time. All of these changes to the sport have had a negative impact on our results, but we are finally showing signs of turning things around and it could be a blessing in disguise that all these changes have occured in a relatively short period of time. If we can get our results back on track after the start we have had to this year, then we can get back on track no matter what happens in the future. I really feel like the struggles we have faced in 2016 will galvanise us as a community and prove to everything that our strategy is a winning strategy. The last few months have felt like a never ending sequence of UFC events that were bad for betting, but finally we get a stacked card like UFC 202 to look forward to. UFC 202 is the first event in a long, long time that looks absolutely amazing for betting. I expect to make a solid profit on this event because I see a good amount of value offered on several fighters who should win easily.
