I thought our bad run of luck had ended and then UFC Fight Night 42 happened…
We’ve seen some crazy judging decisions in recent weeks, but the judges decision to award Diego Sanchez the win over Ross Pearson is nothing short of cheating. It is the worst judging decision I have ever seen.
Bryan Caraway also used illegal fish-hooking techniques to lock in a submission against Erik Perez. This wasn’t our night…
We suffered a huge loss of 40.90 units on this event. Here’s how each of our betting tips played out…

BRYAN CARAWAY vs ERIK PEREZ
OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Erik Perez to win at odds of 2.10 | +110 | 11/10
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 10.00 Units Loss
Erik Perez showed terrible fight IQ in this match up and it cost him. Perez’s key to winning this fight was to use his wrestling to keep this fight standing. Instead he chose to engage in grappling exchanges with Caraway and eventually shot in for a take down in the second round. This take down allowed Caraway to gain top position and win the fight with a rear naked choke.
Perez had all the skills necessary to win this fight and he chose not to use them…
WE INCORRECTLY PREDICTED THAT ERIK PEREZ WOULD WIN THIS FIGHT

PIOTR HALLMANN vs YVES EDWARDS
OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Yves Edwards to win at odds of 2.70 | +170 | 17/10
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 10.00 Units Loss
Yves Edwards looked really good in the first round but faded fast.
I thought that the altitude of Albuquerque would effect the cardio of Hallmann worse than Edwards because Hallmann has a full time job in the Polish Navy, but Edwards was the one to suffer…
Edwards slowed down significantly the more the fight went on and Hallmann was able to capitalize. I still feel that this was a good bet at odds of 2.70 | +170 | 17/10. In a normal climate I’m confident that Edwards would win this fight more often than not.

JASON HIGH vs RAFAEL DOS ANJOS
OUR BET: 10.00 Units on this fight to go over 2.5 rounds at odds of 1.55 | -181 | 11/20
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 10.00 Units Loss
Rafael Dos Anjos has fought to a decision in his last 5 fights, but he got his killer instinct back for this one.
Dos Anjos got stronger and stronger as the fight went on, whilst Jason High faded in the high altitude of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Rafael Dos Anjos looked great in this fight and finished Jason High in the second round via TKO.
WE INCORRECTLY PREDICTED THAT THIS FIGHT WOULD GO OVER 2.5 ROUNDS

DIEGO SANCHEZ vs ROSS PEARSON
OUR FIRST BET: 10.00 Units on Ross Pearson to win at odds of 1.67 | -149 | 67/100
OUR SECOND BET: 10.00 Units on this fight to go over 2.5 rounds at odds of 1.47 | -212 | 47/100
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 5.30 Units Loss
Ross Pearson completely dominated this fight and clearly beat Diego Sanchez, but the judges scored the fight in favour of Sanchez.
This was the worst judging decision I’ve ever seen and I’m too angry to type anything else about this fight.
WE CORRECTLY PREDICTED THAT THIS FIGHT WOULD GO OVER 2.5 ROUNDS

BENSON HENDERSON vs RUSTAM KHABILOV
OUR FIRST BET: 10.00 Units on Benson Henderson to win at odds of 1.44 | -227 | 11/25
OUR SECOND BET: 10.00 Units on this fight to go over 2.5 rounds at odds of 1.60 | -166 | 3/5
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 5.60 Units Loss
Benson Henderson won this fight via rear naked choke in the third round. This win cemented his place as one of the best Lightweight’s in the world.
Rustam Khabilov was the first opponent that Henderson has finished since 2010. I didn’t expect Henderson to be able to finish the tough Russian, especially on the ground, but I guess that’s what makes Henderson’s win all the more impressive.
