Betting Tip 1: Edson Barboza to beat Beneil Dariush
[mpc_divider align=”left” lines_color=”#679f42″ lines_weight=”5″ padding_css=”padding:0px;” margin_divider=”true” margin_css=”margin-bottom:20px;”]Beneil Dariush is a great fighter, but Edson Barboza is a nightmare matchup for him. I’d even go as far as saying that Barboza is the toughest opponent that Dariush could face in the top 10 rankings. It’s a strong statement, but I believe it’s true because Barboza’s takedown defence is at a level where Dariush won’t even come close to taking him down. This means that the fight will most likely stay standing and in a stand up fight, Dariush is bringing a knife to a gunfight.
There really is no area of this fight where Dariush could have an advantage, unless he finds a way to get Barboza to the ground which certainly won’t be easy.
Barboza is a terrible stylistic matchup for Dariush. Throw into the mix the fact that he has home advantage on his side and you start to see that the odds are seriously stacked against Dariush.
I believe that Edson Barboza is one of the best value bets so far in 2017.

It’s very difficult to land significant strikes on him.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Edson Barboza is still improving. He gets better from fight to fight and always shows up with new skills.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Edson Barboza has excellent cardio, he never gets tired. Beneil Dariush has bad cardio which means that he starts to slow down after the first round. Barboza’s devastating body kicks will also lead to Dariush gassing out faster than usual.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Edson Barboza is much faster than Beneil Dariush.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Beneil Dariush telegraphs his power strikes which puts him at a big disadvantage in this matchup because Edson Barboza is a high level striker. He will see Dariush’s power strikes coming from a mile away. Barboza also has great distance control and footwork. He should be able use his speed and footwork to spot power strikes early and move away from danger.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Beneil Dariush is a Southpaw. This would normally be an advantage, but in this particular matchup it will open up his lead leg and body to Barboza’s devastating kicks coming from the orthodox stance.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]The majority of Dariush’s takedown attempts come from the clinch position because he doesn’t have strong offensive wrestling. This means that it will be very hard for Dariush to take Barboza down because Barboza does a great job of preventing his opponent’s from tieing him up. He also does a great job of disengaging when they get him into the clinch position.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Beneil Dariush stands flat footed and heavy on his lead leg. This opens him up to Barboza’s devastating leg kicks. [/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Edson Barboza lands a much higher volume of strikes in open striking exchanges. Betting Tip 2: Tim Means to beat Alex Oliveira
[mpc_divider align=”left” lines_color=”#679f42″ lines_weight=”5″ padding_css=”padding:0px;” margin_divider=”true” margin_css=”margin-bottom:20px;”]I tipped Tim Means to beat Alex Oliveira when they first fought back in December and the fight played out almost exactly how I thought it would. You can read my initial prediction and betting tip for their first fight by clicking here.
Alex Oliveira was exposed in their first fight for having weak wrestling, low level striking and a low level ground game. Means was able to quickly turn Oliveira into a panic wrestler by picking him apart in the striking exchanges and out wrestling him on the ground.
I expect the same thing to happen in this rematch. Tim Means is the closest thing you’ll get to free money this weekend.
Reasons for placing this bet...
[mpc_divider align=”left” lines_color=”#679f42″ lines_weight=”5″ padding_css=”padding:0px;” margin_divider=”true” margin_css=”margin-bottom:20px;”][ultimate_icon_list icon_size=”18″][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means was dominating Alex Oliveira in their first fight. He clearly had a big advantage in both striking and grappling.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means has previous experience of fighting in Brazil. [/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Alex Oliveira was looking for a way out of their first fight. [/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means is super aggressive and fights at a relentless pace. He never gets tired and he never stops trying to hurt his opponent. He is constantly throwing elbows, kicks, punches and knees. He doesn’t give his opponent a break and it’s extremely difficult to deal with this type of opponent unless you can meet them head on and fight fire with fire. Alex Oliveira doesn’t have the cardio, technique or heart to meet Tim Means head on. [/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means lands a much higher volume of strikes per round.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means throws a much wider range of strikes than Alex Oliveira.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Alex Oliveira is a low level grappler. He has poor wrestling technique and low level Jiu Jitsu. He does everything with bull power and strength. He doesn’t use proper technique. This kind of fighting style uses up a lot of energy. For this reason Oliveira will become significantly less effective the longer the fight goes on.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means doesn’t waste much time defending takedowns against the cage. He prefers to give up takedowns and then uses his length to quickly stand back up. This is demoralising for his opponents because they have to use a lot of energy to get him down, only to see him immediately stand right back up.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Alex Oliveira has poor top control. Tim Means does a great job of using his length to post and stand back up when he gets taken down.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means is much more technical on the ground and he’s very active off his back. Oliveira might be the one who initiates the grappling exchanges, but I feel like Means is the guy who will have the advantage on the ground. [/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means is dangerous from every position. He can finish the fight standing up, on the ground or in the clinch.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]All of Oliveira’s takedowns come from the clinch. He spends alot of time trying to take his opponents down against the cage. This is one of the positions where Tim Means is the most dangerous. Means is able to inflict a lot of damage in the clinch with elbows, knees and short punches. [/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Alex Oliveira is a very easy fighter to gameplan for. He has no plan B. You know that he is going to try and pin you on the cage and grind on you for 3 rounds. Tim Means will be prepared for this tactic and will likely have a strategy in place to beat it.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”Defaults-check” icon_color=”#679f42″]Tim Means is significantly better than Alex Oliveira in every single aspect of MMA. Means will dominate this fight if he can keep the majority of the matchup standing.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][/ultimate_icon_list]Risk Factors...
