[adrotate group=”103″]My strategy for Invicta FC 9 was to win both bets and bank a nice profit of 10 units. Amber Brown vs Liz McCarthy did have the potential to be close, so my 20 unit bet on Barb Honchak acted as a cover bet on McCarthy. I was really confident that Honchak would win, so a 20 unit bet on her meant that we’d only make a very, very small loss if Liz McCarthy lost her fight.
This is only the second time in the history of this website where a fight played out exactly like I said it would and I still ended up losing! My reasoning for betting Liz McCarthy was her ability to outwork Amber Brown and score points with take downs, ground control and cage control. Liz successfully did all those things, but still ended up losing a split decision on the judges score cards. It wasn’t a terrible decision because Amber Brown did deal more damage, but Liz controlled significant periods of the fight and I really felt like she won. The only other time I have lost this year when my tip played out exactly like I said it would, was when Diego Sanchez “beat” Ross Pearson.
A small loss is a little disappointing, but it was always going to be a possibility given the closeness of fights in the lower weight classes over at Invicta. We now move on to a weekend packed full of MMA, with the UFC hosting 2 events in one day.
I’ll have my betting tips, picks and predictions for UFC Fight Night 55 on the website without a couple of days and my picks for UFC Fight Night 56 will follow as soon as the betting odds become available.
Sorry about this one guys, I took a little risk to try and earn us 10 units. It never paid off, but we did come extremely close!
