ONE FC – Battle of Lions is the first of 3 major MMA events this weekend and I will have betting tips, picks and predictions for all of them!
I personally feel like this particular betting tip is the best out of all my tips for this weekend. The odds are extremely good value on this fight and that my betting pick should be a much bigger favourite. I sometimes feel like the odds makers do not fully research fighters who compete on smaller events and that presents us with a great opportunity to make money in situations like this.
Don’t forget to stop by my MMA Betting forum and let me know what you think of my betting tips for ONE FC – Battle of Lions…

BAKHTIYAR ABBASOV vs LUIS SANTOS
Luis Santos trains at American Top Team and holds an impressive MMA record of 60-9-1. The Brazilian has an extensive range of experience having fought all over the world and he’s genuinely one of the best Welterweights still competing outside of the UFC.
Bakhtiyar Abbasov is a relatively inexperienced fighter who has competed in Azerbaijan for the majority of his career. He also trains at a small MMA gym in Azerbaijan and he’s only ever fought a low standard of opposition up until his last fight against Ben Askren. There’s nothing that special about Abbasov, although he does have a powerful right hook and decent takedowns. Here’s a clip of him fighting in Cage Warriors last year:
Luis Santos is an absolute murderer and he has been completely wrecking people in his last few fights. He has accurate striking, vicious knockout power and very strong grappling. He’s also lethal in the clinch and he has a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Abbasov has a wrestling pedigree, but Santos trains at American Top Team, so I’m sure he can handle someone who has spent the majority of his career fighting in Azerbaijan.
You have to watch Luis Santos for yourself to see just how good he is, so here’s some footage of his last few fights…
Luis Santos will also have a huge size and reach advantage over Abbasov and Santos’ length will make it really difficult for Abbasov to get inside and land take downs or strikes. Santos also fights out of the Southpaw stance, which gives him a big advantage over an inexperienced Orthodox stanced fighter like Abbasov.
Luis Santos vs Bakhtiyar Abbasov is a complete mismatch and these odds are an absolute gift. I feel like this is a tune up fight for Santos, before giving him a shot at the ONE FC Welterweight title against Ben Askren, early next year.
