[adrotate group=”103″]No matter how much money you make, you always have to pay your taxes and that’s how I look at the losses we suffered this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 55 and 56.
We’ve been on a pretty incredible run over the last 4 months and this weekend was a reminder that you can’t win them all and bad luck catches up with everybody.
This was a strange weekend, because everyone that we bet on underperformed, with the exception of Clint Hester who was beaten by a greatly improved Robert Whittaker.
We lost our bets on Nina Ansaroff and Leon Edwards and I have to say that the loss on Leon Edwards was one of the most disappointing of the year. I’ve been following his career for a couple of years because he is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the UK and he didn’t perform anywhere near as well as he normally does. He should’ve easily beaten Claudio Silva. Edwards is a well rounded fighter with a killer instinct and I’m shocked that Silva was able to lay and pray on him for significant periods of the fight.
I really feel like Leon Edwards beat himself in this fight, because he could easily have finished Silva anytime he wanted to. There seemed to be something holding him back from just letting go and performing to his full potential.
Nina Ansaroff and Leon Edwards massively underperformed against opponents that they should’ve easily beaten and this served as a reminder that Octagon jitters are the real deal. Both of their opponents had previous experience fighting in the UFC and this must have played a part in the outcome of the fights.
From now on I’m going to avoid betting on fighters who are making their debut in the UFC, no matter how great they may look. If you ever catch me tipping someone making their debut again, I want you to jump on the Forum and call me an idiot!
