Nick Newell extended his unbeaten run to 11 consecutive wins after defeating Sabah Fadai with a first round guillotine choke in their World Series of Fighting 7 matchup. Newell wasted no time in the cage and went after Fadai, locking in the choke that finished the fight within just 1 minute 20 seconds.
After the fight Newell spoke about pursuing the WSOF Lightweight title, with no mention of fighting in any other organization. Dana White has previously said that the UFC wouldn’t be interested in signing him, but Newell is certainly doing all the right things to make a strong case for himself.
White believes that the one armed fighter’s disability would restrict him from being able to compete against top level competition in the UFC and that competing in Mixed Martial Arts against more skilled opponents could be dangerous for him. Fighter safety has always been a priority for the UFC so Dana White’s concerns certainly seem justified on this occasion.
Still Nick Newell is an extremely talented fighter and he’s looked great in all of his fights so far. It’s certainly going to be interesting to watch him grow as a fighter since he’s still so young and who knows how far he will be able to go in this sport. If he continues to put on such impressive performances then it’s going to be interesting to see how he competes against a higher calibre of opponent.
If you’ve never seen Nick Newell fight then be sure to check out the video above which features the full fight from this past weekends matchup against Sabah Fadai at WSOF 7. Newell has certainly got a decent sized following behind him as the video received more than 30,000 views in just two days, but don’t waste your time seeking out the rest of the WSOF 7 event as the rest of the fights were mostly disappointing!
