The World Series of Fighting have completed the signing of one of the most controversial fighters in Mixed Martial Arts history. Today Rousimar Palhares signed a 4 fight, 18 month contract with the WSOF and he is expected to make his debut sometime in March.
Palhares was immediately released from his UFC contract following his win over Mike Pierce last month at UFC Fight Night 29. He was guilty of holding onto a heel hook submission for too long after Pierce had tapped out. He also received a 90 day suspension from the Athletic commission for his conduct.
It was not the first time Palhares had been found guilty of this type of behaviour. Back at UFC 111 he held onto a submission long after his opponent, Tomasz Drwal had tapped out. Prior to signing with the UFC he also did the same thing twice in other organizations and garnered a reputation for holding onto submissions for too long in Ju Jitsu tournaments and training.
