Takeya Mizukgaki and Nam Phan headline the Preliminary card of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 33 event. It’s an important night for both fighters, as Mizukgaki is going into this fight having won his last 3 fights and Nam Phan has lost 4 out of his last 6 fights. Back in the days of the WEC, Mizugaki was a Bantamweight title contender and fought some of the best guys in the world. With 3 consecutive wins under his belt and a ranking in the top 10 UFC Bantamweights, Mizugaki will be looking to put a few more wins together and then challenge for the title. Nam Phan is a pretty good fight for Mizugaki as he likes to strike, but isn’t that technical. His fights against Leonard Garcia showed us that he is prone to being sucked into a stand up war and that will suit Mizugaki who prefers to strike with his opponents and is easily a better striker than Phan. Nam Phan does have decent grappling, but he always chooses to strike with his opponent, which will play right into Mizugaki’s hands. Both of these fighters are extremely tough to finish, with the majority of their fights going to a decision. This presents with a good opportunity to place a bet on the fight going the distance. The bookmakers call this type of bet “fight to last over 2.5 rounds”.
