Takeya Mizukgaki and Nam Phan headline the Preliminary card of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 33 event. It’s an important night for both fighters, as Mizukgaki is going into this fight having won his last 3 fights and Nam Phan has lost 4 out of his last 6 fights. A win for Mizugaki would push him one step closer to a shot at the Bantamweight title, whereas a loss for Phan could spell the end of his UFC career.
Nam Phan is an entertaining fighter but he’s had a really tough time since joining the UFC back in 2010. He’s fought 6 times in the Octagon and has only managed to pick up 2 wins. One of those wins was a split decision victory over Cole Miller who many people believe won the fight. Another loss against Takeya Mizugaki certainly wouldn’t look good for Phan and Mizugaki is a tough fight for anyone in the UFC’s Bantamweight division.
Takeya Mizugaki is going into this fight having won his last three fights against tough opponents like Erik Perez and Bryan Caraway. Mizugaki and Phan both like to strike and as a result this should be a stand up war. Nam Phan probably has the edge in the grappling, but he rarely uses it and prefers to strike with his opponents.
