You can’t win a fight with your head between a dude’s legs – Joe SilvaI was also really happy to see Paul Daley pickup another win. It wasn’t pretty, but he smashed Santos and the fight could easily have been stopped a couple of times by a different referee. Santos was tough, scrappy and he put in the performance of his life, but it still wasn’t enough to stop Semtex. This fight ended up being a lot closer than it should have been, but I love watching Daley fight. He fights like Mike Tyson. He’s not interested in scoring points or winning rounds, he just wants to take your head off and I love that. My final win was a bet on the Cheick Kongo vs King Mo fight. I had a feeling that this match up would be the boring snoozefest that it turned out to be, so a bet on the over 1.5 rounds seemed like a good move. King Mo doesn’t like to engage in striking exchanges and he’s a grinder, so I was really surprised to see the over 1.5 rounds betting line offered up on this fight, because I felt there was a really good chance that these guys would fight to a decision. I didn’t have any money on King Mo to win, but I loved watching his performance in this fight. As a fan of MMA, I don’t enjoy watching fights like this, but as an MMA bettor, I LOVE IT. King Mo played to his strengths and showed superb fight IQ. The takedowns were well timed and he did exactly what he needed to do to win. I wish that everyone would fight as smart as he did… Here are my betting results for Bellator 134: [lt id=”47″] I’ve now unlocked my Premium Betting Tips for Bellator 134. I won all 3 of my bets on Bellator 134 for a total profit of 3.72 units. Betting just $10 a unit on this event would’ve banked you a total profit of $37.20 and betting $100 a unit would have earned you a profit of $372. I’ve got a few high rolling Premium Members who bet over $1000 a unit and they will have picked up a decent return of over $3720 following my betting tips for this event. No matter how big or small your unit sizes are, they’re not bad returns for a $9.99 a month membership.
I’ve now gone 4-1 on the last 2 Bellator events which is hopefully a sign that my bad run of betting on Bellator has finally come to an end. We definitely had a little luck on this event, but it was the right kind of luck, because I really feel that Liam McGeary deserved to pick up the decision win against Emanuel Newton. We’ve been on the wrong end of so many close decisions over the last few months, that picking up a win like this felt great and I apologise if I went a little overboard on Twitter! Truthfully, I was just delighted to see a British fighter become a Champion in a major MMA promotion. I’ve been waiting a long time to see a British Champion and I really like Liam McGeary.
During the McGeary vs Newton fight, I said to MMA Dog on Skype that I would be scoring the fight in favour of McGeary if I was a judge, because I don’t believe lay and pray should score more points than strikes from the bottom and submission attempts. When the fight ended, I had the fight scored 3 or 4 rounds in favour of McGeary, but did I think the judges would agree with me? Hell no.
As a fight fan, I love to see lay and pray tactics punished and apart from scoring a few takedowns I don’t feel like Newton did anything to deserve winning this fight. I love to see judges score fights like this, I just wish there were more universal guidelines on judging so that we all know where we stand. If Newton would have won the decision, you wouldn’t catch me complaining, because historically judges would have scored the fight in his favour. Having said that, I am loving the new type of judging we’ve seen emerge over the last 18 months, where judges have been more willing to score fights in favour of the fighter who is trying to win the fight.
Ambiguous judging makes betting on MMA a bit of a minefield and whilst I’m very happy to win my bet on McGeary, I do feel bad for the people that lost money on Newton. I personally feel that the judges made the right decision, but it definitely could have gone either way. This quote pretty much sums up how I feel about this fight…
