[adrotate group=”103″]I stayed in Manchester with some close friends this weekend, so I didn’t get a chance to watch UFC 179 until the early hours of Monday morning. We were in Manchester celebrating two of my best friends getting married and we were lucky enough to attend the Manchester United vs Chelsea game, thanks to some very generous ticket donations from Horwich and Farrelly Solicitors.
We spent Saturday night visiting some of the best bars and clubs in the Northern Quarter of Manchester and as I stood on the dance floor, the DJ dropped our anthem, “DJ Khaled – All I do is win”. From then on, I knew that we would make money that night! It was a sign from the MMA Betting Gods!!!
We only made a small profit from our bets at UFC 179, but it’s important to remember that we hardly ever lose and it’s better to make a consistent profit, than have inconsistent results where some weeks you win and some weeks you lose. Our consistent approach to winning money is the best way to generate a steady income from betting on MMA. Keep banking your profits and as your bankroll grows, these small wins will start to turn into big cash.
I was really impressed by the number of fighters that made big improvements at UFC 179. Beneil Dariush was one of the guys that I feel made some of the biggest improvements. In his past fights he has struggled to mix up his striking with his grappling and he’s also struggled to push the pace and fight aggressively. He fixed all these problems against Ferreira and he managed to win the fight by controlling Ferreira on the ground. Ferreira is a much more accomplished grappler than Dariush, which made the way he won the fight all the more impressive.
Phil Davis was another guy who has made huge improvements since his last fight against Anthony Johnson. If you go back and watch his last few fights, you’ll notice that he has virtually no stand up and yet he wasn’t afraid to stand and trade with Glover in the first round. He’s going to be a difficult fight for anyone in the Light Heavyweight division, now that it appears he can mix up his striking with his grappling.
The biggest improvement of the night has to go to Chad Mendes, who looked incredible, even in defeat. In my original betting tip for that fight, I actually questioned Mendes’ position in the top 10 rankings, but he proved me wrong by putting in a superb performance against one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. Mendes definitely deserves his place at the top of the UFC’s Featherweight division and I don’t think anyone would complain if we got to see him fight Aldo again in the future.
After all the fights were done, we ended up winning 3 out of our 4 bets, for an overall profit of 3.05 units. This takes our total profit for the month of October up to 15.55 units.
We’ve now made a profit in 4 consecutive months and we’ve only had 3 losing months since we first set up the website back in December 2013.
