There was a time when the UFC would stack their Brazilian events with squash matches that leaned heavily in favour of the Brazilian fighters. This helped grow the UFC in Brazil by giving the nationalistic Brazilian fans the wins that they wanted to see. Over time the UFC events in Brazil became more balanced and a combination of tougher matchmaking and USADA has seen the UFC lose a lot of momentum in Brazil. It has been widely reported that viewing figures are down in the country and whilst the current economic issues probably go some way towards explaining the decline in interest, the lack of Brazilian UFC champions over the last 12 months is likely to have also had an impact on the Brazilian fans falling out of love with the UFC’s involvement in their country. After multiple big name Brazilian Champions lost their belts in 2015 and a big Brazilian stadium show saw Fabricio Werdum get KTFO’d in front of 50,000 people, it appears that the UFC are looking to give a bit back to their loyal Brazilian fans by stacking out UFC Fight Night 95 with squash matches that heavily lean heavily in the favour of Brazilian fighters. Anything can happen in MMA but it’s hard to ignore the fact that Cyborg Santos, Thiago Silva, Renan Barao, Jussier Formiga and Vicente Luque have all been blessed with very favourable matchmaking on this event. UFC Fight Night 95 looks really good for betting, so I expect to make a decent profit on this event.
