TIM MEANS
COST: HIGH
My best Fantasy MMA pick for UFC Fight Night 80 is Tim Means. I think Tim is a great pick because I believe he’ll score big points by winning this fight inside the distance. I believe Tim will have an advantage just about anywhere that this fight takes place. Means has won 6 of his last 8, with 4 of them being finishes. Howard on the other hand has lost 3 of his last 4 fights and his only win in that timeframe was against Cathal Pendred and he did not look good at all in that fight. Tim is a very well rounded fighter and I believe his speed, footwork and excellent striking will be the difference in this fight. I think Means wins this fight fairly easily. It will only be a matter of time before he hurts Howard in a striking exchange and finishes him.

DANGEROUS DOGS
THIAGO SANTOS
COST: LOW
You always need to throw in a low priced fighter or underdog on your team to remain within your salary cap. I think Santos is a good pick for your team because I think he has a good shot at winning this fight. He has won 3 of his last 4 via 1st round stoppage and he’s an excellent striker with a lot of power in his strikes. His opponent is 11-0, but I have not been impressed by his performances. Santos will be his toughest test to date. He will have to be on his A game to beat Thiago. If he has trouble getting the fight to the ground, Santos has a great shot of finishing him. At Santos’s very low price tag, I think there is a chance to score big points whilst spending very little of your salary cap.

FIGHTER(S) TO AVOID
PHILLIPE NOVER
COST: LOW
I would avoid having Phillipe Nover on your Fantasy MMA team because he has a very tentative style of fighting. He works for takedowns and does not do much damage when he actually secures top position. I am not convinced that Nover will even have success getting the takedowns. This will mean bad news for Nover. If he is forced to fight primarily on the feet, he will not win these exchanges. I see him, at best losing a decision. I also think there is a good chance that he will lose by KO or TKO. That means Nover will not score many points for your team. I would stay away from him. There are many other options on this card that will likely score higher than Nover.
