My MMA Betting Results For UFC 183 – 1.60 Units Loss Allsopp Uncategorized February 3, 2015 This turned out to be a scrappy event for betting with 2 of our bets ruined before UFC 183 even began. This contributed to us making a small loss of 1.60 units. My bet on Diego Brandao vs Jimmy Hettes not to go to a decision was voided before the fight even started, when Jimmy Hettes was taken ill before the event and the fight had to be cancelled. I decided to pull out of on my bet on Kelvin Gastelum after he missed weight by 10 pounds the night before he was scheduled to fight Tyron Woodley. In my original betting tip for the fight, I cited that pressure, volume and aggression was the key to victory for Gastelum. When he showed up at the weigh ins looking soft and out of shape, I didn’t feel confident that he would have the cardio required to implement his regular, high output style of fighting. As a result, I bought myself out of the bet with a cover bet on Woodley to win. Woodley winning would have resulted in a break even and we would have made a slight loss had Gastelum still won. This proved to be a good move, because Kelvin looked flat footed and slow in the first half of the fight. He had completely abandoned his footwork and high pressure style of fighting that had seen him pick up impressive back to back wins against Nico Musoke and Jake Ellenberger. Eventually, Kelvin decided to turn things up towards the end of the fight, but by then it was far too late. This fight was very frustrating to watch, because Tyron Woodley once against showed us that he struggles to deal with fighters who push the pace. He just doesn’t have the cardio, output or technique to deal with aggressive opponents. If Kelvin had come into the fight in shape and fought like he had against Ellenberger and Musoke, I have no doubt in my mind that he would have won. It’s frustrating because we ended up breaking even on this fight, when we could quite easily banked 3 units of profit if Gastelum had made weight and fought to his full potential. I had already began counting my winnings in the Jordan Mein vs Thiago Alves fight, as Mein completely destroyed Alves in the 1st round. Unfortunately, my counting was cut short when Alves landed a hail mary body kick early in the second round. The kick dropped Mein and Alves earned the stoppage victory out of nowhere. It was an impressive finish from Thiago Alves, but Mein had looked incredible up until that point. After seeing how dominant Mein performed in the 1st round, there’s no doubt that we were on the right side with this bet. It’s just a shame that Mein isn’t a little more durable! I’m still a little surprised that Anderson Silva vs Nick Diaz went the distance. It seemed like their fighting styles were the perfect recipe for a finish and I didn’t see any way that they would fight to a decision. Given the history of both fighters and the information I had to work with beforehand, I don’t feel that betting on this fight to last less than 3.5 rounds was a bad move. For me, the saddest part of watching UFC 183 was seeing the return of Anderson Silva. Silva is by far my favourite fighter of all time and I even shed a tear for the Brazilian when he broke his leg against Chris Weidman. It felt sad watching this fight, because Silva looked like a shadow of his former self and he seemed to lack the aggression and drive required to compete at the highest level of this sport. I know that this was his first fight back after a brutal injury, but the old Anderson Silva would have dusted Diaz within a couple of minutes. Instead, he looked nervous and tentative, as Diaz was allowed to disrespect Silva with taunts during the early stages of the fight. Anderson Silva has nothing left to prove in this sport. In my eyes he will always be the greatest of all time. I really hope he retires now. I’d love to see him go out with his head held high on a win… Here are my betting results for UFC 183: [lt id=”40″] I’ve now unlocked my Premium Betting Tips for UFC 183, you can take a look at them by clicking here… You can checkout my free betting tips and picks for UFC 183 by clicking here… You can gain access to all of my betting tips for every MMA event, for just $9.99 a month.
