Vitaly Minakov to beat Cheick Kongo at odds of 1.40 | -250 | 2/5 was a great value bet and the Russian fighter ended up winning the fight comfortably helping us to earn a profit of 4.00 units from our 10.00 unit bet.
We’ve had a lot of bad luck in our MMA bets over the last few weeks and when Herb Dean took a point off Minakov in the first round, I was worried that it was going to be another one of those nights. Luckily for us, Minakov used his superior grappling to control Kongo for the majority of the fight.
Cheick Kongo did everything he could to win the fight, but it wasn’t enough. The powerful young Russian was able to stay away from the heavy hands of Kongo, despite looking gassed towards the end of the second round.
Kongo appeared to be desperate to win the fight as he resorted to dirty tactics throughout the match up, which included repeatedly grabbing onto Minakov’s shorts, grabbing the cage and also faking groin shots in attempt to get further points taken off Minakov.
Prior to his match up, there were pockets of the MMA community claiming that Minakov deserved a place in the top 10 Heavyweight rankings. It’s safe to say that this performance has probably silenced those calls, as his lack of cardio and low fight IQ showed that the Russian still has a long way to go before he is to be considered for a place amongst the top Heavyweight’s in the world.
