ALEXIS DAVIS vs JESSICA EYE
OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Jessica Eye to win @ 2.50 | +150 | 6/4
OUR COVER BET: 20.00 Units on the fight to last longer than 1.5 rounds @ 1.57 | -175 | 57/100
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 1.40 Units Profit
I don’t want to sound bitter, but I strongly believe that Jessica Eye won this fight. This was another example of how MMA judges give too much credit to takedowns. I felt like the first round was close, but Jessica Eye definitely won it. She landed more significant strikes and the amount of control that she had in the clinch, should have been enough to win her the round. Alexis Davis did score a take down, but she failed to do any damage on the ground.
Of course Davis dominated the second round but Jessica Eye totally dominated the third and I felt like she should have won the fight two rounds to one. So did most of the crowd at the Mandalay Bay events centre, as they booed the decision as it was read out.
Our cover bet on the fight to last longer than 1.5 rounds made us a small profit on this fight, but if Jessica Eye had won, we would have banked a massive profit for the night. Ahh well, you can’t win them all…
WE INCORRECTLY PREDICTED JESSICA EYE TO WIN THIS FIGHT

ROBERT WHITTAKER vs STEPHEN THOMPSON
OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Robert Whittaker to win @ 2.10 | +110 | 11/10
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 10.00 Units Lost
We felt that Whittaker had a lot more advantages in this fight, but we got this one totally wrong. We couldn’t have known that Whittaker would get knocked out, as he has never been finished with strikes and normally has an excellent chin. I guess that just makes Thompson’s win all the more impressive…
The Aussie was getting picked apart in the striking exchanges, but we kind of expected that it would take some time for him to settle. Unfortunately, just as Whittaker started to settle and look dangerous, he got caught with a big shot and Thompson wasted no time in finishing him off.
WE INCORRECTLY PREDICTED ROBERT WHITTAKER TO WIN THIS FIGHT

DEMIAN MAIA vs RORY MACDONALD
OUR BET: 10.00 Units on Rory MacDonald to win @ 1.47 | -214 | 7/15
OUR SECOND BET: 3.00 Units on Rory MacDonald to win via decision @ 3.50 | +250 | 5/2
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 12.20 Units Profit
I always feel confident with my bets. I spend days doing research and my results speak for themselves, but when Demian Maia shot in on Rory MacDonald and took him down in the first round, I thought this was going to be a really bad night…
Going into this fight we were already down 8.60 Units and as Rory MacDonald lay there unable to get Maia off top control, my heart sank. It’s been a long time since we made a big loss on a UFC event, but it does occasionally happen and as the Brazilian dominated MacDonald from top position, I had a feeling like it might be one of those nights.
Luckily for us, the second and third rounds played out exactly how we predicted and Rory MacDonald cruised towards a dominant decision victory.
WE CORRECTLY PREDICTED RORY MACDONALD TO WIN THIS FIGHT

RONDA ROUSEY vs SARA McMANN
OUR BET: 20.00 Units on Ronda Rousey to win @ 1.25 | -400 | 1/4
OUR PROFIT / LOSS: 5.00 Units Profit
I don’t think I spoke to anyone who actually thought Sara McMann would win this fight. In fact, I spoke to more people who thought Patrick Cummins had a chance of beating Daniel Cormier.
This fight didn’t play out like I thought it would, but it certainly had the same outcome. Ronda Rousey was never going to lose this fight and in the brief couple of minutes that this fight lasted, we had an opportunity to see that the current Champion isn’t afraid to stand and strike.
Ronda will now put her career on hold to go and shoot two movies, so I’m not quite sure when we will see her fight again, but it’s tough to see any woman in the UFC’s Bantamweight division being able to compete with her.
Does anyone fancy watching Rousey and Tate fight again? After all, Miesha has lasted longer than anyone else!!!
